Scotty B’s Set To Bring Burgers And Bites To San Diego's South Bay

San Diego's South Bay is about to welcome back a familiar favorite with a brand-new look. Scotty B’s, the expanded evolution of the popular Scotty Burgers concept, is officially opening its doors in the former Champion Field space in Imperial Beach.

The opening of Scotty B's marks a homecoming for owner Scott Landy, who first made a name for himself grilling burgers out of Ye Olde Plank Inn’s patio before his following quickly outgrew the modest setup. Landy, a South Bay local and Montgomery High School graduate, has spent much of his career in the food and coffee industries, including leadership roles at Five Guys and Better Buzz Coffee.

After the pandemic upended his earlier ventures, he pivoted to catering and eventually launched Scotty Burgers in 2022. What started as a Fourth of July pop-up with no lettuce, no tomato, and no ketchup quickly turned into a sensation that earned a loyal late-night following at the Plank.

Scotty B’s represents the next chapter. The restaurant takes over the former Champion Field space with a full remodel and expanded footprint designed to serve both locals and beachgoers. The new menu builds on fan favorites while broadening the offerings, featuring a lineup of signature burgers, hot dogs, wings, loaded nachos, fries, and jalapeño poppers, as well as weekend-only breakfast service. Customers can also look forward to a full bar, late-night hours, scratch-made recipes, and catering options for private events.

Landy has said community support - and encouragement from his family, particularly his father-in-law - was critical in transforming Scotty Burgers from a backyard-style experiment into a sustainable local business. He remains committed to the same philosophy that fueled his early success: simple, consistent, high-quality food served with passion.

Scotty B’s will officially debut September 15 at 875 Seacoast Drive in San Diego's South County city of Imperial Beach. For more information, visit scottyburgers.com.
