The upcoming location, currently under construction in the former Which Wich Superior Sandwiches space, marks Ike’s latest push into North County and continues a streak of sandwich shops occupying the site. Known for its cheeky menu names, signature “Dirty Sauce,” and craveable hot sandwiches, Ike’s caters to a wide range of eaters - from meat lovers to vegetarians and vegans.
Founded in San Francisco in 2007 by Ike Shehadeh, the brand began as a single counter-service spot called Ike’s Placeand quickly built a cult following for its bold flavors and irreverent charm. Today, Ike’s operates dozens of locations across California and beyond, with San Diego-area restaurants in Poway, Del Mar, Sorrento Valley, La Jolla, and Mission Valley, plus one formerly in the Gaslamp Quarter. No official opening date has been announced, but construction permits are active, and the brand has confirmed the new Escondido location is moving forward.
Each location features locally themed sandwiches named after pop culture icons, athletes, and community figures. Among Ike’s most popular creations are the Menage à Trois (halal chicken with three cheeses and Dirty Sauce), the Matt Cain (roast beef, salami, and turkey), and vegan favorites like the Meatless Mike and James and the Giant Peach.
Ike’s Love & Sandwiches will open soon at 1264 Auto Park Way, Suite D, in San Diego's North County city of Escondido. For more informatiom, visit loveandsandwiches.com.
