San Diego Restaurants Ordered Closed This Week (September 26 - October 2) By County Health Department

This is the weekly list of San Diego County restaurants and food facilities that have faced temporary closures and downgraded status due to health inspections from September 26 - October 2, 2025.

The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality performs thousands of inspections annually to ensure that food establishments adhere to necessary safety standards. When inspectors identify critical violations, they issue closure notices, mandating that businesses resolve the issues before they can reopen, as well as reduce the health grade of some establishments.

Below, we outline the recent week's closures and downgrades and the specific violation list for each as reported by the health inspectors.

CLOSURES:

Mr Tempo Cantina (701 5th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101-6917) - Ordered closed on September 27 for Vermin - Major. 

Northgate Markets Store #31 (1950 Main St, San Diego, CA 92113-2162) - Ordered closed on September 29 for Food Handler Training - Minor Holding Temperatures - Major Vermin - Major Equipment and Utensil Storage, Use - Out of Compliance.

Gyrogrill (6780 Miramar Rd, Suite #110, San Diego, CA 92121) - Ordered closed on September 29 for Vermin - Major; Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance; Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

International House of Pancakes (1340 E Valley Pkwy, Escondido, CA 92027) - Ordered closed on September 30 for Vermin - Major; Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance; Equipment, Utensils, Linens Storage and Use - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

La Lomita Mexican Grill (3100 E 08th St, National City, CA 91950) - Ordered closed on September 30 for Vermin - Major; Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance; Equipment, Utensils, Linens Storage and Use - Out of Compliance; Ventilation and Lighting - Out of Compliance; Plumbing - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

Subway #50949 (197 Woodland Pkwy, San Marcos, CA 92069) - Ordered closed on October 1 for Vermin - Major; Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

Rodeos Meat Market (422 Highland Ave, National City, CA 91950) - Ordered closed on October 1 for Vermin - Major and Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance.

Pro Kitchen Rental (1321 Broadway, El Cajon, CA 92021) - Ordered closed on October 2 for Vermin - Major; Plumbing - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.

Denny's #6227 (2691 Navajo Rd, El Cajon, CA 92020) - Ordered closed on October 2 for Vermin - Major. 

DOWNGRADES:

Niban (7081 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92111) - Downgraded to a B with 80 score on September 26 for Food Handler Training - Minor; Proper Handwashing Facilities - Minor; Holding Temperatures - Major; Time as Public Health Control - Minor; Food Contact Surfaces - Minor; Vermin - Minor; Personal Cleanliness - Out of Compliance; Thawing Methods - Out of Compliance; Nonfood Contact Surfaces Clean - Out of Compliance; Equipment, Utensils, Linens Storage and Use - Out of Compliance; Premises, Personal/Cleaning Items, Exclusion Measures - Out of Compliance; and Floors, Walls, and Ceilings - Out of Compliance.
