Premier Pub is taking shape inside Plaza Rancho Peñasquitos. While the bar is operating in an interim soft-open format, a formal New Year’s Day kickoff is planned to introduce the brand alongside a slate of soccer matches, with a larger grand opening event scheduled for later in January. Ownership is led by longtime San Diego resident John Reynolds, a registered nurse and local business operator who also co-owns an event center in Mission Hills and holds a silent partnership in Little Italy’s Kiku Room.
Plans for the space include a full refresh - new paint, repaired infrastructure, and updated décor - to move the former bar into a new era with a more polished pub atmosphere. The menu will be anchored by smash burgers, with playful soccer-inspired names and a planned “secret menu,” along with a future burger challenge intended to build community engagement. Live music, DJs, karaoke nights, and eclectic playlists will supplement match broadcasts, highlighting lesser-known tracks and deeper cuts rather than top-40 rotation.
Reynolds’ goal is to create an inclusive neighborhood venue where soccer fans, families, and local residents can gather for games, casual meals, and evening entertainment. With the World Cup approaching and San Diego’s soccer culture continuing to grow, Premier Pub intends to establish itself as the area’s go-to destination for viewing, dining, and connection.
