Diamond Room is co-owned by the Padres and developed in partnership with Delaware North, the team’s longtime food-and-beverage operator. The project is the first collaboration between the Padres’ hospitality arm, Finest Collective, and Patina Group, which oversees concessions at Petco Park and operates high-end dining concepts at major cultural and entertainment venues nationwide.
Located at the Gaslamp Gate at Seventh Avenue and K Street, the lounge occupies a portion of the historic Simon Levi Building, a restored early-20th-century warehouse. The interior leans into a retro-chic, 1970s aesthetic, featuring red velvet curtains, black leather booths, mirrored walls, vinyl record displays, turntables, and a disco ball, a deliberate nod to what the Padres describe as San Diego’s “stay classy” era.
The bar’s menu centers on classics-inspired cocktails with a modern twist. Diamond Room will offer 14 cocktails, including two non-alcoholic options, alongside beer and wine. Among the signature drinks are Baxter’s Old Fashioned, an Anchorman-inspired cocktail, the Diamond Margarita, a clarified tequila drink, and the Fluffy Garibaldi, finished tableside with nitro-infused orange juice and a jell-o shot garnish. The food menu is intentionally compact, featuring appetizers, salads, flatbreads, handheld items, and a ’70s-style fondue for two, with the Diamond Dog, a Korean-style corndog made with Snake River Farms beef, serving as the signature dish.
Beyond nightly service, Diamond Room is designed to function as an events space. The lounge will host Patina Group’s “Shaken & Stirred” interactive mixology classes for small groups and will be available for private rentals of up to 50 guests, with the ability to expand into adjacent Padres office space for larger gatherings. Outdoor patio seating is expected to be added later in the year.
The lounge will be managed by Jason Hatton, a San Diego native who recently trained with Patina Group at its Disney Springs property in Florida. Initial hours will run from 4 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays and Mondays, with the venue closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Hours are expected to expand once the Padres’ home season begins and during concerts and special events at Petco Park and Gallagher Square.
Diamond Room replaces the City Tacos outpost that operated in the space from 2020 until its closure in mid-2025, after the Padres exercised a lease buyout. While the move drew criticism from fans of the taqueria, team executives have positioned the new lounge as part of a broader promise to make Petco Park and its surrounding blocks a year-round destination, not just a venue for 81 home games.
The timing of Diamond Room’s debut also coincides with the return of the third annual San Diego Rodeo, which is scheduled to take place at Petco Park from January 16 through 18. The opening comes as the Padres face renewed scrutiny over the rodeo, with a long-running civil lawsuit over alleged animal cruelty heading to trial in San Diego Superior Court just days before the event. While the rodeo remains scheduled to proceed, the legal challenge and mounting sponsor withdrawals have placed added attention on Padres-backed events unfolding around the ballpark this week, including the launch of new hospitality concepts like Diamond Room.
