Set against the backdrop of one of San Diego’s most iconic cultural institutions, this year’s event draws inspiration from the beauty and mystery of the cosmos, with a theme centered on galaxies, constellations, and celestial elegance. Guests can expect a visually immersive experience featuring jewel-toned decor, cosmic-inspired ambiance, and a night designed to reflect both exploration and impact.
The evening will run from 6pm to 10pm and will welcome approximately 325 attendees for a full program that includes dinner, dessert, dancing, a silent auction, raffle, and paddle raise benefiting JLSD’s mission and its community partners. Participating beneficiaries include organizations such as the San Diego Food Bank, PATH, Coastal Roots Farm, and Father Joe’s Village, all of which play a critical role in addressing food insecurity in San Diego County.
Tickets are available online and are expected to quickly sell out. VIP tickets, priced at $150, offer an enhanced experience that includes a welcome prosecco, reserved seating, and exclusive access to both the San Diego Air & Space Museum and the adjacent Ripley’s Believe It or Not! exhibit, with the option to add on a flight simulator experience. General admission tickets are available for $100 and include access to the full evening of programming, dining, and entertainment.
Guests attending the event will also hear from Junior League leadership and community partners during the evening program, highlighting the organization’s ongoing efforts to address the reality that roughly one in four San Diegans experiences food insecurity. Through fundraising, volunteer support, and training initiatives, JLSD works to strengthen local nonprofits and expand their impact throughout the region.
Now in its fourth year, Party for a Purpose continues to serve as JLSD’s signature fundraising event, organized by a diverse committee of volunteers who contribute their time outside of professional and personal commitments to bring the experience to life.
The Junior League of San Diego, founded in 1929, is an organization of women committed to advancing leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. As a nonprofit, JLSD supports its work through events like Party for a Purpose, as well as membership dues, public donations, and community partnerships.
Party for a Purpose: Jewels of the Cosmos will take place on Saturday, May 2, from 6-10pm, at the San Diego Air & Space Museum, located at 2001 Pan American Plaza in Balboa Park. Tickets are available online, and organizers encourage guests to consider rideshare options for the evening.
