San Diego Couple Becomes Breakout Stars Of Netflix’s Newest Season Of ‘Temptation Island’ Reality Series

A San Diego couple has become one of the most closely followed storylines on Netflix this spring. Scarlett Bentley and Cole Mueller, who entered Temptation Island Season 2 with a relationship already defined by trust issues, left the show separately before later confirming they had reconciled after filming. Their arc has drawn attention not just for what unfolded on screen, but because both arrived with established lives and business ventures rooted in San Diego.

Scarlett Bentley, 29, is the founder of SoCal Social, a marketing and content agency based in San Diego. Originally from Arkansas, she moved to the city after graduating from the University of Arkansas with a degree in business marketing and eventually left a corporate role to build her own company. Her agency focuses on social media management, branding, and content creation for Southern California businesses. Before appearing on Temptation Island, Bentley had already spent time in front of cameras, joining Bravo’s Below Deck Sailing Yacht, where she was introduced as part of the crew after entering the yachting world shortly after relocating to San Diego. Her public presence has since centered on entrepreneurship, lifestyle branding, and collaboration within the local market.

Cole Mueller, 27, brings a similarly local but distinct background. Based in Solana Beach, he works in real estate and development with RMCI Group and has been involved in multiple entrepreneurial ventures. Among them is Octavio Tequila, a family-run spirits company he co-founded with his father after a trip to Baja California inspired the concept. Octavio is most widely known for developing Maniball peanut butter flavored tequila, similar to the spirit popularized by another local brand, Skrewball Whiskey.

Mueller studied Environmental Studies at UC Santa Barbara and has also been active in competitive fitness, including endurance-style events, which has become a visible part of his personal brand. His professional identity blends real estate, lifestyle branding, and business development, an increasingly common mix among younger entrepreneurs in coastal Southern California.

On Temptation Island, the couple’s polished professional identities gave way to the central issue that brought them onto the show. Both acknowledged entering the experience with unresolved trust concerns, and those tensions surfaced quickly. One of the most discussed moments of the season came when Mueller read Bentley’s private journal during a villa visit, an action that became a clear turning point in their relationship. While both formed connections with other participants during the show, neither pursued a new relationship after leaving, and they ultimately exited the island separately.

In the weeks following the finale, public speculation about their status grew as viewers pointed to social media activity and appearances suggesting the two were still in contact. That speculation was confirmed during the reunion, where Bentley and Mueller revealed they had reconnected after filming and decided to give their relationship another chance. Their reconciliation places them among a small number of couples from the season who ultimately remained together, though their path included a break before coming back together.

Bentley later reflected that the experience of watching limited clips of Mueller’s time on the island contributed to emotional reactions during filming, noting that some of her responses could have been handled differently in hindsight. Those comments, along with Mueller’s own statements about growth following the show, suggest both have framed the experience as a catalyst for reassessment rather than a definitive endpoint.

Their story stands out in part because it reflects a broader intersection between reality television and real-world personal branding. Both Bentley and Mueller had already built careers that rely, to varying degrees, on visibility, narrative, and audience engagement. As a result, their relationship has unfolded not only as a private matter but as a public storyline shaped by television, social media, and ongoing attention from viewers.

For San Diego, their presence on a national platform highlights the increasing visibility of local entrepreneurs and personalities in entertainment. Bentley’s agency work and Mueller’s business ventures are rooted in the region, and their appearance on Temptation Island has effectively brought a version of that local lifestyle - entrepreneurial, image-conscious, and socially driven - into a wider conversation.

Whether their relationship ultimately proves sustainable remains to be seen. What is clear is that their experience resonated because it reflected a familiar dynamic: a couple navigating trust, ambition, and identity in a highly visible environment. In that sense, their time on Temptation Island extends beyond the show itself, offering a case study in how modern relationships can intersect with public life in ways that are both revealing and difficult to separate.
