La La Land Cafe has leased space at Del Mar Plaza, the upscale oceanfront shopping and dining destination at 1555 Camino Del Mar in the heart of Del Mar, according to an announcement by leasing firm Brixton Capital. The company described the location as San Diego's first taste of La La Land and confirmed the café will occupy a highly visible corner space overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
The Dallas-based company has expanded rapidly since opening its first location in 2019, growing to more than 35 cafés across Texas, California, Arizona and Tennessee. While the brand has already established a significant presence throughout Los Angeles and Orange County, the Del Mar location will mark its first entry into the San Diego market.
Founded by entrepreneur Francois Reihani, La La Land was created with a mission that extends well beyond coffee. After learning about the challenges faced by young adults aging out of the foster care system, Reihani launched the concept around a workforce development program that provides paid internships, mentorship, life skills training and employment opportunities for foster youth transitioning into adulthood. The company's nonprofit arm, the La La Foundation, continues to support that mission through scholarships, mentorship programs and career development.
Rather than emphasizing its charitable work inside its cafés, La La Land has built its reputation through an unmistakable brand identity centered around optimism, hospitality and what it calls "bringing more yellow into the world." The minimalist white interiors, signature yellow cups, specialty coffees, organic matcha beverages and social media-friendly presentation have helped the company attract millions of followers online while becoming one of the country's fastest-growing café concepts.
Beyond its social mission, La La Land has also built a devoted following for its specialty coffee and ceremonial matcha beverages, many of which have become social media favorites. The menu features signature drinks including the iced La La Latte, Banana Cloud Latte, Strawberry Cloud Latte and Matcha Squared Latte, alongside espresso and matcha versions of beverages like the French Toast Latte, Upsidedown Latte and Strawberry Fields. Guests can also order fruit coolers, avocado toasts topped with burrata or cream cheese, and sweet toast options featuring fresh fruit, almond butter or hazelnut cacao spread. The company's bright yellow cups, minimalist aesthetic and highly photogenic drinks have helped make La La Land one of the fastest-growing café brands in the country.
