Pacifica Del Mar Adds Fresh Talent to Its Kitchen | New Chef Brings Peruvian Flare to Coastal Restaurant’s Fare

Pacifica Del Mar introduces a fresh talent to their culinary team. The seaside eatery has appointed experienced chef Stephanie O’Mary-Berwald, to work alongside veteran chef/partner Chris Idso as Pacifica's new executive chef. O'Mary-Berwarld's experience and training stems from the acclaimed kitchens of renowned chef Todd English and James Beard winning chef, Michael White. Having worked on both coasts and in high-profile restaurants of different cuisines, O’Mary-Berwald’s culinary roots run deep. Her first efforts include adding a variety of autumn-harvested produce to dishes that have already become local favorites, while slowly introducing new items that demonstrate her unique perspective and love of cross-cultural cuisine.

O’Mary-Berwald began her culinary career at the acclaimed Olives in New York City 12 years ago. Although she did not have any formal training at the time, her tenacity and zeal lead to a full time position and subsequent enrollment in the French Culinary Institute. O’Mary-Berwald’s Peruvian heritage, acute attention to detail and technique are the backbone of her cooking style, yet her passion lies in the clean, bright flavors of the Mediterranean’s coastal countries, especially Italy. Guests can expect O’Mary-Berwald’s dishes to remain simple with little surprises that are sure to delight. New items added to Pacifica Del mar’s menu include Pan Seared Opah with sunchoke puree, baby romanesco, pinenuts and kalamata olives, and a Peruvian Fluke Ceviche with purple potato chips.

Stephanie O’Mary-Berwald joins Pacifica Del Mar as executive chef from a number of contemporary spots, including Fireman Hospitality Group’s New York Italian kitchen, Bond45, and National Harbor’s Fiorella.
