San Diego Unites to Fight ALS | Local Philanthropists Join at Premier Concert Fundraiser January 19th

January  11, 2013

Flying for a Cure - Reach New Heights to Cure ALS is an upcoming philanthropic event taking place on Saturday, January 19th, featuring a private dinner and an intimate concert with a 'surprise' musician (advertised everywhere but here so find out with a few clicks!). Honoring retired Captain John Constans and his personal battle with the devastating disease that affects 35,000 families nationwide, this event will capture local tastemakers and award winning musicians for the utmost charitable purpose.

The Constans Family
As the Director of Operations, Ashley Constans brings a wealth of professional experience and event production knowledge to her position at leading event production company, Redfearn & Associates. Up until 16 months ago it was only Ashley's job - she loves it and possesses an incredible passion for the dozens of non-profit events and galas she oversees every year; but in July of 2011 it became personal. Ashley's father, longtime Rancho Santa Fe resident John Constans, was diagnosed with ALS. Initially, her world came crashing down, but after the realization of this news, she decided to parlay her everyday work into making a marked difference for her father and for the research that could save the lives of thousands of others who are faced with ALS today.

On Saturday, January 19, 2013, hundreds of generous San Diegans will gather to raise funds for ALS research (also known as Lou Gehrig's disease) at 5:30pm at the picturesque Hyatt Regency La Jolla Aventine. The evening's playful flight theme takes a cue from John's 30+ year career as a Navy, PSA and U.S. Airways pilot and honors his love for life by embracing a more casual and fun-loving approach to the festivities.

Leading off with the Paul Cannon Band and featuring an exclusive performance by a surprise internationally acclaimed musician and San Diego native (we are not permitted to publish her name), the evening will also showcase a stunning array of silent/live auction items including one of the largest signed guitar collections available in San Diego's history; a cocktail and appetizer happy hour with featured restaurants Urban Solace, Sbicca, Pacifica, Crush and Campine, an array of savory and sweet food stations; and a VIP meet 'n greet with the artists.

Tickets can be purchased online at  http://www.teamgodfather.org/2012/11/flying-for-a-cure-2013/ for $250 each. Please contact Ashley Constans at [email protected] for table sponsorship details or questions.

All proceeds from the evening will benefit ALS research through Team Godfather Charitable Foundation, a local non-profit 501c3 organization devoted to ending this devastating disease by raising funds for unparalleled medical research.
