The Ramen Migration Into San Diego Continues | Nishiki Ramen Opens First Location Outside Japan In Kearny Mesa

The line just for the 'soft' opening!
October 4, 2015

With over two decades in business and multiple locations in Japan, Nishiki Ramen comes to San Diego's Kearny Mesa neighborhood to offer an authentic, tried-and-true ramen experience. Located at 8055 Armour Street within the Mitsuwa Marketplace retail center, Nishiki offers ramen using high quality ingredients, including house-made and cut noodles using organic wheat flour, MSG-free broths, vegetarian options and even Berkshire pork chashu.

Within the 1,600 square-foot, wood-heavy eatery, there is seating for nearly 50, including a spacious ramen bar, communal tables and a smattering of two and four-tops. In addition to ramen noodle soup, Nishiki serves typical ramen house fare, like fried chicken karaage, bao buns, rice bowls, salads and more. The restaurant intends to expand its menu once its up and running, including the addition of sushi, as well as beer, wine and sake.

Although the grand opening is not until October 4, Nishiki has been feeding slurping patrons a very limited menu during its soft opening stage for the past few days. Nishiki is the second ramen restaurant with origins in Japan to open in San Diego in the past week, with Jinya Ramen Bar opening in Pacific Beach last week.

Starting Sunday, October 4, Nishiki Ramen will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30am-2:30pm and 5:30-9:30pm. Check out some stock photos below for a look at some of Nishiki's dishes.
