Jinya Ramen Bar Opens First San Diego Location In Pacific Beach

September 27, 2015

Jinya Ramen Bar opens its first San Diego location in Pacific Beach today at 11am at 825 Garnet Avenue in the space that formerly housed Oggi's Express and Naraya Thai before that. The eatery is a welcome addition to the neighborhood, offering 20 beers on tap, a selection of wine and sake and Japanese izakaya favorites including a variety of ramen and small plates. We were lucky enough to experience the soft opening where we had a chance to sample many dishes, so join us on our first taste of San Diego's newest ramen bar.

Jinya was first founded in Tokyo but currently has 17 locations open or in the works across the United States and Canada, including two in San Diego. In addition to the PB branch, there is also a Jinya under construction in Hillcrest at 815 University Avenue to open soon, adjacent to a larger-scale, more high end project - the second U.S. outpost of Robata JINYA, which will likely not open until mid-2016.

Jinya Pacific Beach features seating for 100 within its dining room, bar and outdoor patio. Ramen options include a variety of pork tonkotsu broths, as well as vegan, vegetarian, spicy, garlic, umami miso and chicken-based broths, all the perfect vessel for a variety of ingredients and thick or thin noodles. All ramen bowls can be made a combo with the addition of items like crispy chicken, pork gyoza, salad or curry rice. There is also a menu of small plates like the delicious spicy creamy shrimp tempura, tempura brussel sprouts, pork belly bao bun, crispy chicken, caramelized cauliflower and more, as well as rice bowls, curry and desserts.

We stopped in to preview the restaurant and very much enjoyed the entirety of the experience. Check out some photos below and be sure to stop by Jinya Ramen Bar Pacific Beach to taste for yourself.
