The Hake Kitchen & Bar To Close For Massive Renovation

January 13, 2016

The Hake Kitchen & Bar in La Jolla is about to undergo a massive renovation that will add 2,000 square feet and 60 seats to the existing restaurant, along with ocean views and a revised menu.

“It’s always been our goal to evolve The Hake Kitchen & Bar into a destination restaurant,” said Managing Partner Ricardo Dondisch. “Through this renovation, we look forward to providing our guests with the same attention to service and respect for quality ingredients, while adding a newly enhanced experience featuring a beautiful new dining room and sweeping ocean views of La Jolla cove.”

In the new space, Mexico City-based designer Jorge Campos aspires to provide guests with an enhanced dining experience including a casual lounge boasting a classic, yet modern bar, a separate area created for a relaxed take on fine dining overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and increased outdoor seating. Executive Chef Stephen Tien also intends to implement several changes in the kitchen, including the addition of an oyster/raw bar, but patrons can still expect to see many of the menu’s signature Latin-inspired, locally sourced seafood dishes.

The Hake Kitchen & Bar will close for renovations after the end of meal service on January 24, with a re-opening date slated for this spring. The expansion coincides with a massive overhaul of the 1250 Prospect Avenue complex which also includes George’s and Donovan’s. The restaurant is located at 1250 Prospect Street.
