Helm’s Brewing Company is joining the growing craft beer community in Ocean Beach with a brand new satellite tasting room to open at 4896 Newport Avenue the week of May 16, with and a grand opening set for May 21, just in time for the OB's summer weather. This anticipated project will be the second location for Helm’s Brewing Company after brewing for three and a half years in Kearny Mesa.
Located on the corner of Newport Avenue and Cable Street, Helm's 1,100 square feet project will include 16 taps of Helm’s Brewing beer along with multiple engineering and nautical elements that define the true essence of the brand.
"This is an incredibly exciting time for Helm’s Brewing Company to be expanding in Ocean Beach, a community we are so proud to be a part of," said Matt Johnson, General Manager at Helm’s Brewing Company. "This location will give us a chance to show off more varieties of our craft beer lineup and allow us to continue our community first philosophy with the Ocean Beach community."
Helm’s Brewing was born in San Diego, California, by four shipbuilders who set out to brew great tasting beer for their community, fellow servicemen and families. As true craftsmen, Helm’s utilized their kinship and industrial expertise to hand build their own brewery the same way they construct their ships, and they will do the same with the Ocean Beach tasting room. Since 2012, Helm’s has engineered a fleet of award winning beers.
With a strong history of service and water safety, Helm’s and its owners will continue to help strengthen and keep the local community safe by participating with a variety of local and national organizations. These organizations include The Wounded Warrior Project, The San Diego Junior Lifeguard Association, the Peninsula and greater San Diego YMCA, and the Enduragive Swim24 Challenge.
