The highly anticipated Pendry Hotel will open its doors to the public this Saturday, February 11. Located in the heart of the historic Gaslamp Quarter, Pendry will offer a boatload of dining & drinking venues operated in collaboration with Clique Hospitality, in addition to its luxury accommodations that feature more than 300 rooms in the center of downtown San Diego.
A new luxury brand from Orange County-based Montage Hotels & Resorts, Pendry San Diego is the brainchild of father and son founders Alan and Michael Fuerstman and will offer 317 guestrooms, including 36 suites, spread across 12 stories, as well as multiple dining and entertainment venues, a 6,200-square-foot spa, a 24-hour fitness facility and 35,000-square-feet of indoor and outdoor event and meeting space.
Pendry San Diego is creating a culinary and entertainment hub in the heart of downtown San Diego and the hotel will feature six dining and entertainment venues for guests and locals to enjoy. Three of these venues will be designed and developed in conjunction with the team at Clique Hospitality - Lionfish, Oxford Social Club, and The Pool House. The other three unique concepts - Provisional Kitchen, Nason's Beer Hall, and Fifth & Rose - are operated in partnership with Raan and Lindsay Parton, the team behind the esteemed Los Angeles-based Alchemy Works. Lionfish Modern Coastal Cuisine – Driven by seasonal, local ingredients, the Lionfish menu will feature modern coastal cuisine highlighting fresh-catch and prime meats. Lionfish is proud to partner with Executive Chef Jose “JoJo” Ruiz and welcome him to the Clique Hospitality team and the Pendry San Diego family. Most recently Chef de Cuisine at Little Italy's Ironside Fish & Oyster, Ruiz’s dedication to his craft earned him a spot on Eater National’s top 50 "Young Guns" list, illustrating the "the most promising up-and-coming talent in the national restaurant industry." At Lionfish, Ruiz will bring his incredible talent in sushi, seafood and coastal cuisine to the airy two-floor dining room where a menu of distinctly San Diego-inspired dishes, many served family-style, complements a diverse menu of hand-crafted, seasonally-focused cocktails. Lionfish will be open for dinner only starting Wednesday, February 8.
Oxford Social Club – Inspired by the social clubs of a bygone era, Oxford Social Club will be the hotel’s nightlife centerpiece, welcoming guests and locals to enjoy a late- night experience focused on design, music, service and an extensive, curated cocktail program. The space will be intimate and relaxed with banquette seating, plush furnishings and art installations that all take inspiration from the personal detail and comfort of a private home setting. Oxford Social Club will be open all weekend - February 9-11, and thereafter will operate Thursday-Sunday and one Monday each month.
The Pool House – Boasting some of the best views in the Gaslamp Quarter, The Pool House at Pendry San Diego will be the hotel’s premier rooftop lounge, embodying the true essence of the southern California lifestyle with its light, contemporary open-air design and indoor/outdoor aesthetic. The rooftop, perched above the Gaslamp’s famed 5th Avenue, will play host to relaxed daytime and evening events and gatherings and will feature a signature bar and cocktail experience for poolside guests. The Pool House is expected to open this March.
Provisional Kitchen, Café & Mercantile – Provisional is Pendry's spot for all-day eats. It's a fast-casual restaurant and marketplace featuring seasonal fare and gourmet takeaway offerings that will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a kitchen helmed by Chef Chris Osbourne, who most recently was the Chef de Cuisine of downtown's Cowboy Star. The communal dining space features a Vittoria Coffee espresso bar, sky-high ceilings, bistro tables and a retail marketplace set within a greenhouse. The marketplace features a curated collection of items including homeware, ceramics, apothecary items, pantry staples and jewelry. Provisional Kitchen opens this weekend.
Fifth & Rose – A sophisticated watering hole with elevated bar fare located adjacent to the hotel's lobby, Fifth & Rose will be the onsite "hotel bar" - a place to engage in conversation over a hand-crafted cocktail, a pint of beer or a glass of wine. A snack menu by Provisional's Chef Chris Osbourne will also be available. Rich stone stands out amidst a black and white palette with crimson details, candles and fresh roses. Fifth & Rose is inspired by a host’s living room - comfortable, always welcoming, a place you never want to leave. The bar will be open from noon to 1am daily starting this weekend.
Nason’s Beer Hall – A new addition to the famous San Diego craft beer scene, Nason’s is a California coastal establishment featuring local and international beers, global comfort food, and vintage bar games. Its name pays homage to Nason & Co. Farmer’s Market, formerly located in the current location of the beer hall in the early 1900’s. Nason's will be open daily from 3pm to midnight starting this weekend and will offer 24 taps of craft and German-style beers, plus wine and cocktails. There will also be a menu of shareable pub-style plates.
