Eating Champion Joey Chestnut To Compete In Ice Cream Sandwich Eating Competition In San Diego

May 12, 2017

Number-one-ranked competitive eating champion Joey Chestnut, known for his annual 4th of July hot-dog consumption, will make his way to San Diego to compete at the first-ever Baked Bear World Ice-Cream Sandwich Eating Championship, which will take place on Sunday June 4, at 1pm at Park at the Park in Petco Park before the San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies game.

There may no better summertime snack than The Baked Bear ice-cream sandwich and Major League Eating is proud to announce The Baked Bear World Ice-Cream Sandwich-Eating Championship to its 2017 slate of sanctioned eating championships, where a world record will be set in the ice-cream sandwich discipline for the first time in Major League Eating history. Competitors will have six minutes to consume as many Baked Bear chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream-sandwiches as they can, earning them the title of The Baked Bear Ice-Cream Sandwich-Eating Champion and winning $4,000 in prize money.

"We started The Baked Bear four summers ago in San Diego and have been wanting to put a fun event together for the community, and what better venue then Petco Park before a Pads game?"  said Shane Stanger, Co-founder of The Baked Bear. "We are also giving the chance for a local resident to enter the contest and rep San Diego, anyone interested just needs to grab a ticket and come to The Baked Bear tent at Park at the Park by 12:30pm that day to sign up - we will be choosing the winner right before the contest starts!"

Food eating champion Joey Chestnut will face fierce competition from other top eaters, including #14-ranked Rich LeFevre from Henderson, NV, #20-ranked Pablo Martinez from Tulare, CA, #44-ranked Mary Bowers from Dana Point, CA and #45-ranked Doug Ecks from Las Vegas, NV.
