Point Loma's The Pearl Hotel Sold To Redondo Beach Company

October 27, 2017

San Diego-based L.W.P. Group has sold its interest in Point Loma's The Pearl Hotel to Redondo Beach-based Ocean Lodging LLC.

The first venure into the hotel industry for San Diego-based L.W.P. Group, owned by Greg Strangman and Michael Pandolfe, Sportsman’s Lodge Motel was acquired in late-2006. Located at 1410 Rosecrans Street in Point Loma, one block from San Diego Bay, the property was renovated and rebranded as The Pearl, a stylish 23-room "budget boutique" hotel with a mid-century design, unique poolside ambiance and an onsite restaurant and bar. In 2012, The Pearl was named as one of the Top 25 Trendiest Hotels in U.S. by Trip Advisor. In addition to The Pearl, L.W.P Group also opened Tacos Perla in North Park in 2014, which was sold to The Taco Stand this past Spring.

Taking over ownership and management of The Pearl is Ocean Lodging LLC, owned by Dev, Janek & Jigar Patel of Redondo Beach CA. The company also recently acquired the 22-room Laguna Beach Inn at 2020 S. Coast Hwy in Laguna Beach, CA earlier this Summer. The company also owns a Holiday Inn Express located in Marina, California. There is no word yet on what changes, if any, will take place at The Pearl under new owners. We reached out to representatives of the property for comment but have not received a response.
