3rd Annual Chef Throwdown Pits Local Cooks Against Each Other To Benefit The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation On September 28

September 2, 2018

Join San Diego’s top chefs at Hotel Del Coronado on Friday, September 28, for an unforgettable evening of epicurean delight benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Thirty-five of the best chefs from San Diego and Baja will compete at the annual fundraiser and tasting event, which offers a variety of ticketing options that range from an oceanfront tasting festival to a seated multi-course dinner.

Chef Throwdown begins with guests gathering on The Del’s oceanfront Windsor Lawn, enjoying appetizers from the competing local chefs from 6-7:45pm. Ticket holders will get the opportunity to mingle with the Culinary Council as they tally their favorites and participate in a silent auction featuring local art, exclusive wine and culinary experiences, and more.

From 8-9:30 pm, the program moves inside to the elegant Ballroom for a 3-course plated dinner from Hotel del Coronado Executive Chef Stefan Peroutka, with first course presented by guest French Master Chef Olivier Dubreuil. Dinner will be followed by a brief Cystic Fibrosis Foundation program, live auction and award presentation including honoring Chef Works with the Industry Leader Award. Following dinner, from 9:30-11pm, San Diego’s Young Professionals will mingle at NightCap, the Chef Throwdown after-party. The Ballroom-turn-dance party will feature desserts, craft cocktails from local mixologists, and more hors d’oeuvres. The People’s Choice winner of NightCap will also be crowned.

Tickets for Chef Throwdown are now available online. Sponsorships are available from $5,000 (Tax-deductible $1,580). Tickets to the event are available for $250 (tax-deductible $45) and include all the components above. NightCap tickets are also available separately for $50 (not tax-deductible). A limited number of VIP tickets are always available for $350 (tax-deductible $150) that includes all event components plus a VIP reception at 5:30pm, a special meet-and-greet with our chefs, a signed book and valet parking.

Don't miss this progressive evening bringing together local fashionable foodies awarding a 'People’s Choice' and a Culinary Council of celebrity top chefs and food critics, awarding the Chef Flor Franco Awards for Culinary Excellence. MC’s for this year’s event will be San Diego’s favorite Sam "The Cooking Guy" Zien and the Food Network’s Melissa d’Arabian.
