The San Diego County Fair begins it's 3+ week annual tenure at the Del Mar Fairgrounds this Friday June 8th. On day two, fair goers get the unique opportunity to wash down the 'caveman turkey club' (or any number of interesting treats) with a sampling of local wines at the San Diego County Fair Commercial Wine Competition and Festival.
One of the central missions of the San Diego County Fair is to showcase local agriculture. With that in mind, the organizers are proud to introduce the newest Fair festival, the San Diego County Fair Commercial Wine Competition & Festival. Viticulture is emerging as an important part of San Diego County's agricultural offerings, and it will be celebrated in a venue that also emphasizes one of our county's leading agricultural "crops," nursery and ornamental plants.
This year, in addition to unlimited wine samplings, there is a competitions open to San Diego County vintners; however, the deadline to enter has passed. Amateur adult winemakers can compete in the Homemade Wine Competition. Please see the Wine Competition & Festival page in the Competitive Exhibits section for entry info.

$40.00, without Fair admission (for those with Fair season passes, for instance).
Purchasers will receive a wristband voucher that allows unlimited samplings of wine entered in the festival competition. You must be 21 or older to purchase wristband vouchers.
Where to buy tickets: Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster or the Fairgrounds Box Office, located on the north side of the Main Parking Lot. Hours are 10:00AM to 6:00PM Tuesday through Saturday.
Parking and transportation tips:
On Saturday, June 9, the Fair will operate three FREE off-site parking lots with FREE shuttle service to the O'Brien Gate. Parking on the grounds is $10.00. For information about these free lots, see our Parking page.
