Gaslamp Strip Club Celebrates 10 Years with Free Steak

July 30, 2012

David & Lesley Cohn of the Cohn Restaurant Group, one of San Diego's most respected family-owned restaurant collectives, opened the doors to Gaslamp Strip Club in 2002. The concept was bold, out-of-the-box and the community was abuzz with the sexy, double-meaning of its name.  On Wednesday, August 15th, Gaslamp Strip Club is celebrating T+A, their Tenth Anniversary that is, with a free steak dinner for guests.

In its infancy, the Gaslamp Quarter was little more than a destination location with an abundance of retail stores, chain restaurants and tourist traps. Once an underserved area of town, today the Gaslamp Quarter is now buzzing with new restaurants opening (and closing) on every corner. Turnover is big and stakes are high. However, Gaslamp Strip Club is one venue that has remained on top, celebrating 10 years of business this August.

The Recipe to Success:. The 21 & up "grill-it-yourself" steak joint is an interactive experience where guests have the opportunity to choose their steak's fate. Another selling point?  Sex sells!  Loaded with sexual innuendos, servers donning "meat inspector" tees, risqué pin-up portraits on the walls and menu items such as the XXXtras and cocktails like the "Naughty Scout", the concept appeals to the masses, attracting bachelor and bachelorette parties, conventioneers and date nights. In addition, the venue has garnered an impressively loyal following over the past decade. Executive Chef and Operating Manager James Stephenson credits the locals to the restaurant's success.

"The locals are our bread and butter. We're a constant in an area of town that is always in influx. When our guests come they know they are going to have a good time because they are going to have the same high-quality steak experience in a saucy atmosphere. We're not just in the heart of the Gaslamp, I think we are the heart of the Gaslamp," says Stephenson.  To thank the locals and loyal customers, GSC is offering guests a free grill-your-own steak dinner with the purchase of another steak dinner of equal or lesser value.

The 5,000 square foot Gaslamp Strip Club is not your average steak house. Serving up a sinfully delicious dining experience, Gaslamp Strip Club combines superior quality choice cuts with an informal “grill your own” lounge. A casual alternative to stuffy steak houses, Gaslamp Strip Club is within walking distance to Petco Park and the San Diego Convention Center, and was voted “Best Casual Steakhouse” three years in a row by the California Restaurant Association.

Gaslamp Strip Club provides a decidedly cheeky ambiance amid an impressive collection of pin-up artwork by Alberto Varga, as well as a “risqué” signature cocktail menu. Perfect for a sensual evening of cocktails on the outdoor patio or for a late night dining experience, Gaslamp Strip Club offers a full-service lounge menu, an extravagant assortment of vodka martinis and imported wines—including “The Dirty 30” menu, which features 30 bottle selections for under $35.
