SoCal Music Festival Set to Rock Out San Diego's East Village this Saturday | September 1st from 2pm to Midnight

This weekend, San Diego' East Village will be bumping with the sweet spirit of Southern California - an area synonymous with sunshine, music, art, parties, beautiful people, and outdoor activities.  The first annual SoCAL Music Festival is building momentum and is coming ever closer to selling out.  Set to take over four stages and five blocks in the neighborhood of East Village on Saturday, September 1st, 2012 from 2:00 PM to Midnight, three of the biggest and best known entertainment companies, McFarlane PromotionsRMD Group, and Eventvibe.com invite everyone to experience what is sure to be the ultimate outdoor festival, complete with killer performances by world class electronic dance music (EDM) Artists and renowned bands, including headliners the Cold War Kids.

Since the start of ticket sales in July, SoCAL Music Festival Producers have been continuing to unveil special guest performances sure to please music junkies everywhere. The most recent announcements include headliners, Long Beach, California’s Cold War Kids with their unique sound embracing influences as diverse as Bob Dylan, Billie Holiday, Jeff Buckley, and the Velvet Underground.  Considered the godfather of Bar Area hip hop, Too $hort (aka $hort Dog) will demonstrate how he is the "originator of the independent hustle," "the controversial youth advocate," and "the Hugh Hefner of urban America."  Krewella,  a trio electro group from Chicago that instantly exploded onto the electro scene with their infectious melodies comprised of snarling dubstep drops, will be defying the norms in EDM music and probably make my ears bleed in the process.

These three special guests join the bill with killer all-star performances by Designer DrugsFamily WagonFelgukHyenaNorin & Rad and Vokab Kompany. Along with four separate music stages, there will be interactive art exhibits and SoCAL lifestyle on display throughout the streets! Make sure to stop and smell the flowers as you check out the 25 foot tall Spinning Psychedelic SoCal Flower inspired to represent a California Poppy. Conceptualized by artist Paris Davis and constructed by over 15 artists, this spinning art installation piece will be formed of common everyday items in most Southern California homes including surf boards, skateboards, bicycle parts and more. This will just be one of several SoCAL masterpieces positioned around every corner.

As if music and art wasn’t enough, the SoCAL Music Festival is partnering with Red Bull San Diego to bring the best and most extreme pro skateboarders to this year’s festival, such as Pedro Barros (X Games gold medalist). Get ready for grinding, shredding and all out mayhem in its skateboarding competitions.  

The VAVi Interactive Zone will be a showcase with plenty of fun offerings, including Cornhole boards, classic video games (like NBA Jam and PunchOut), a large inflatable slide and a giant-sized game of Jenga. 

It’s more than a festival, it’s a lifestyle…so come vibe out and experience the largest summer festival in San Diego!   The SoCal Music Festival is a 21-and-up event.  General Admission tickets were $30, but are now $40 with prices going up.   GA tix get you into the event and grant you access to all four event stages.  VIP tickets were $55 (now $65) and, amongst many other perks, get you into the party faster!
