The Patio on Lamont Street Makes Its Much Anticipated Debut in Pacific Beach

October 10, 2012

Featuring a luxurious and natural atmosphere, diverse menu and welcoming spirit, The Patio on Lamont Street in PB aims to set the standard for a true neighborhood retreat.  Combining a menu that uses local, seasonal ingredients; a bar that encourages experimentation and mixes unique cocktails; and warm, earthy décor that features natural materials such as marble, fallen Torrey Pines slabs and vintage crystal, The Patio hopes to delight food, cocktail and wine enthusiasts who seek a new and original culinary experience.

This Pacific Beach eatery, located in the former Lamont St. Grill space, is the brainchild of owner Gina Champion-Cain, who assembled a team of San Diego-based designers and culinary experts to make it happen, Using repurposed wood and other recycled materials to create an open feel and a sense of touchable luxury, they retained the original patio fireplace to evoke a homey ambiance, chose eclectic and unique pieces to add a sense of discovery and created a living wall to add a taste of nature to the intimate dining space.

Chef John Medall, formally of Red Circle, has created a menu that features eclectic and globally inspired cuisine, including small plates and entrees flavored with herbs grown in the onsite herb garden. The Patio is committed to the sustainable, local and farm-to-table food movements, so it will use local vendors whenever possible.

Classic brunch favorites have been reinvented and include Portobello Eggs Benedict and Jack Daniel's Pancakes, while lunch choices include inspired dishes such as Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Ahi Tartare and Watermelon & Feta Salad. Portuguese Garlic Shrimp, Grilled Caesar Salad, Pan-Seared Scallops with Corn Puree, and Pork and Bacon Risotto are part of the eclectic dinner menu.

The Patio has an approachable wine list compiled by General Manager, Sheila Tracy, which aims to encourage adventurers by offering half glasses and flights. Guests will be tempted by a wide array of rare finds from around the world as well as culinary-based cocktails that use farm- fresh ingredients. The “chef of cocktails,” Brandt Stenberg, will serve up classic cocktails, modern cocktails and classic cocktails with a modern twist.
