Dirty Birds Helping Out Its East Coast Brethren | Hurricane Sandy Fundraiser Set for November 8th

November 5, 2012

San Diego is filled with east coast transplants that now call America's Finest City home. Leigh Gibson, co-owner of both Dirty Birds in Pacific Beach and The Commons downtown, is formerly of Long Island, NY, and being that Dirty Birds itself employs many East Coast transplants, the restaurant will be holding a Hurricane Sandy fundraiser specifically to benefit the people of Rockaway, NY (one of the hardest hit areas by the storm), via the Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego this Thursday, November 8th from 8pm to 12am.

On Thursday, all proceeds from 8 pm until midnight, along with a raffle, will go directly to help relief efforts in Rockaway, NY.  Dirty Birds is well known for it’s award winning wings, but it also features a great menu of other items and of course, cold beer on tap.  During the fundraiser, Dirty Birds will be offering $3 U-Call-Its and $8 pitchers of icy cold beer.  If you know what's good for you, you'll grab some wings too!

"San Diego is my adopted home, but I'm originally from Long Island and a lot of the people on our team here are from the East Coast, as well as a lot of our regulars," explained Leigh Gibson. "Thursday's event is one small way we'd like to help support our friends and families in Rockaway and other areas affected by Hurricane Sandy."

Dirty Birds is located at 4656 Mission Blvd. in Pacific Beach.  For more information on the fundraiser, visit the event page on Facebook, and be sure to visit Dirty Birds online and follow on Facebook and Twitter.
