Center for Community Solutions’ 9th Annual Chef Showdown will take place on Thursday, September 26 from 6-9pm at NTC Promenade in Point Loma. During this charity event, 10 of San Diego’s top chefs will come together for an entertaining Iron Chef-inspired culinary competition, with proceeds benefitting CCS’ domestic violence prevention and intervention programs and services in honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Last year, this event raised more than $150k that went to efforts to battle domestic violence.
At the Chef Showdown, two teams, each with 5 chefs, will incorporate one secret ingredient into eight original dishes, to be judged by a panel of well-known San Diego chefs and restaurateurs. Guests will receive sample food portions and lively course-by-course commentary by Sam Zien of the television show Sam the Cooking Guy and Marcella Valladolid of the Food Network’s Mexican Made Easy. Entertainment will also include music and live video projection of food preparation, and guests can bid on silent auction items.

General admission tickets are priced at $125, and guests are invited to taste a signature dish of over 25 of San Diego’s best restaurants and enjoy an open bar with wine, beer and signature cocktails from all the best wine and spirit sponsors. VIP Admission is priced at $200 which includes a complimentary gift bag, access to the VIP lounge sponsored by Riviera, which boasts comfortable lounge seating, premium visibility of the cooking competition, and access to private chef and vendors, and tastings of title sponsor Uptick Vineyard wine. “This year’s 9th Annual Chef Showdown will be THE best foodie event this year, with an even bolder line-up of restaurants and chefs, and emcees. Founded in 1969, Center for Community Solutions assists more than 30,000 women, men and children affected by sexual assault, domestic violence and elder abuse each year. The Center operates the only Rape Crisis Center in the City of San Diego along with a 24-hour bilingual crisis helpline as well as hospital and court accompaniment services for rape survivors. CCS provides two 24-hour emergency shelter and transitional housing programs for victims of domestic violence and their children.
