The time has finally arrived for skiers and snowboarders to break out their gear and hit the slopes! Bear Mountain will be opening for the long-awaited winter season on Wednesday, November 27 at 8:30 a.m. Snow Summit is not yet open, but should open in the near future. At Bear Mountain, Chair 9 will be open from top to bottom. This includes the Upper Park Run, Expressway, Gulch, and Lower Park Run trails. Over twenty terrain features will be available to ride. The Chair 9 trails vary in difficulty from intermediate to advanced. There will be NO beginner trails available at Bear Mountain on opening day.
The opening day celebration at Bear Mountain will include DJ SlipMatt spinning all day in the Red Bull MXT rolling DJ booth, tons of giveaways, and an $8 Red Bull drink special at the Beach Bar. Guests should plan on arriving early, as ticket sales may be limited due to limited terrain. Snow Summit does not yet have an opening date, but is expected to open soon as snowmaking conditions improve. As snowmaking progresses, Snow Summit will be able to open and more lifts and runs will be available at both resorts.
“We couldn’t be more excited to announce the opening day at Bear Mountain for the 2013-14 winter season,” said Chris Riddle, Vice President of Marketing for Big Bear Mountain Resorts. “In addition to the natural snowfall we’ve received, our extensive snowmaking system has allowed us to kick off another incredible season.”
Due to the limited number of runs currently open at Bear Mountain, lift ticketswill be offered at the early season rate of $40 for adults (ages 22+), $35 for young adults (ages 13-21) and $16 for children (ages 7-12).
