Lucky Liu’s, an authentic Chinese restaurant, opens a half a block from the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum just in time for the Chinese New Year! Lucky Liu’s soft opening on January 20, proved that downtown San Diego was seeking its first authentic Chinese restaurant paired with a relaxed, upscale setting. To honor the year of the horse, Lucky Liu’s will be celebrating the 32nd Annual San Diego Chinese New Year Food and Cultural Fair on Third Ave and J Street in downtown San Diego. The event takes place on Saturday, February 8 and Sunday February 9, 2014, with live performances and cultural displays. Lucky Liu’s will be providing free samples and chances to win prizes from 11am - 5pm to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year with the San Diego community.
Lucky Liu’s menu and authenticity can be credited to Alex Thao, owner of RAMA, which has been recognized as one of the best Thai restaurants in San Diego, and a group of veteran restaurant investors. With the new partnership venture, diners will be able to experience a laid back environment designed and built by design firm - Jaime Partners. Lucky Liu’s will be offering classic comforting Chinese dishes, such as hand-made pork and shrimp dumplings, egg drop soup, lo mein, and special entrees from Thao’s grandma’s “secret menu.” On the weekends, Lucky Liu’s will be serving the Gaslamp Quarter’s first-ever morning dim sum during their traditional Chinese brunch..
Located at 332 J St, Lucky Liu’s is nestled less than a block away from the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum in the Asian Pacific Thematic Historic District. The elegant, yet stylish restaurant space accommodates guests indoors for a unique setting and soon-to-be outdoor patio seating. Lucky Liu’s is now open seven days a week, with hours from 11am to 10pm Monday through Friday, and 11am to 12am Saturday and Sunday.
