In a beer centric city filled with the nation’s most respected breweries, North Park’s new neighborhood bistro and beer bar, Waypoint Public, is quickly making a name for itself as the city’s go-to for unbeatable craft beer and food pairings, with firecracker Executive Chef/Partner Amanda Baumgarten at the helm. As evidence of the Bravo Network’s Top Chef veteran's quickly growing street cred among San Diego brewmasters, one of the world’s and San Diego's most celebrated breweries, Stone Brewing Co., has approached Amanda to brew her very own homebrew recipe on Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens - Liberty Station's 10-barrel system. For any modest homebrewer the chance to partner with a brewery of Stone’s caliber and reputation is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Stone has never done a chef collaboration of this nature before, and for Amanda, next to co-opening her own restaurant, this partnership is one of the proudest moments of her professional career.
The special brew that Chef Amanda is making is an Apricot & Arbol Saison brewed with apricots, chile de arbol, juniper berry, savory and vanilla pods, which she’ll be creating alongside Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station Brewing Manager, Kris Ketcham.
“I always enjoy getting to collaborate with someone as passionate about craft beer and food as Amanda Baumgarten,” says Ketcham. “She’s an accomplished homebrewer and already had a great recipe she was interested in brewing. To be able to brew and create a dinner menu that accentuates the flavor of the beer with the collaborator is something we haven’t done at Stone before, so this is truly next level for us. I look forward to brewing with Amanda and, of course, tasting the beer.”
To showcase this special brew, Chef Amanda will be teaming up with Stone for a variety of events, including:
May 22 starting at 6pm — MEET THE BREWER EVENT at Waypoint Public - Amanda Baumgarten, Kris Ketcham alongside the Waypoint & Stone Brewing Co. teams will be on hand at Waypoint Public to celebrate the debut of the Chef Baumgarten’s collaboration brew. This event is open to the public, and Chef Baumgarten’s beer is priced at $7.
June 19 from 7-10pm — COLLABORATION BEER DINNER at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens - Liberty Station - Amanda Baumgarten is joining culinary forces with Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens - Liberty Station Executive Chef Thomas Connolly to create an exclusive, four-course beer pairing dinner. Tickets are $75 per guest plus tax and service charge and are available online at nightout.com/events/chef-collaboration-dinner-stonebrewery-san-diego/. The menu includes:

Hamachi Crudo – Apricot, Hazelnut, Crystalized Ginger and Red Frill Mustard Greens

June 21 starting at 11:30am — OFFICIAL BEER DEBUT at both Waypoint Public and Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens - Liberty Station - To celebrate the official debut of Chef Baumgarten’s Apricot and Arbol Saison, Waypoint Public as well as Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens - Liberty Station will be tapping their kegs bright and early for an all-day salute to the exclusive chef & brewer collaboration. Waypoint Public Brunch kicks off with a special pairing comprised of Chef Amanda’s Apricot and Arbol Saison alongside a summer solstice-inspired brunch dish. Waypoint will be celebrating all day long until the kegs are tapped. Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens - Liberty Station will have Chef Baumgarten’s Apricot and Arbol Saison on rotation starting at 11:30am until the kegs are tapped.
