Just celebrating their one-year anniversary, Bang Bang is excited to debut a new hot plates, sushi and cocktail menu. With a kitchen and sushi bar helmed by Executive Chef John Hong, aka Chef Kappa, Bang Bang has undergone nearly a complete menu overhaul now featuring new, innovative and daring delectables.  Still showcasing ‘the greatest hits of Asian cuisine’, Bang Bang’s new menu displays progressive yet approachable items while still offering a variety of playful dishes, including guest favorites such as the Crispy Wonton & Tuna Tartare Tacos, Asian Hot Wings and Bang Bang Pork Buns.

With a greater focus and attention to their sushi, Chef Kappa has introduced a variety of new specialty rolls including the Godzilla, made with crab, shrimp tempura, avocado topped with fresh tuna, tobiko, micro cilantro and chipotle / habanera sauce, the Karate Kick, made with crab, spicy tuna, avocado, cream cheese, and jalapeño deep friend with chili aioli and eel sauce, and the Kill Bill, made with spicy yellowtail, cilantro and cucumber, topped with tuna, fried onion, chives, Japanese chili powder, garlic soy dressing and eel sauce.

Executive Chef Kappa has also introduced a new section of the menu - Chef Kappa’s Signature Dishes - which showcases his impressive background of blending his traditional training with modern techniques.  Highlights from Chef Kappa’s signature dishes include the Lobster Basil Dynamite, Hamachi Soba Salad, Uni / Caviar and the 3 Way Salmon with crispy rice topped with baked salmon, salmon caviar, salmon skin, micro shiso, and wasabi creme creche.

While still offering a variety of sakes, beer and wine, Bang Bang’s refreshed punch bowl and specialty cocktails include the Bonsai Bowl, with rye whiskey, cherry, apple, strawberry, lemon and black tea, the Bruce Leeroy, made with bourbon, cacao, lemon, sake and orange bitters and the Crouching Phil Hidden Collins made with vodka, yellow chartreuse, sake, lemon, sugar, cucumber, cranberry bitters and soda.

Bang Bang is located at 526 Market St. in downtown San Diego.  For more information, call (619) 677-2264, visit bangbangsd.com and check out the new menus below.
