North Park’s beer-centric neighborhood bistro,
Waypoint Public, has a handful of holiday happenings brewing this December - including a “12 Beers of Christmas” series launching Dec 12, offering special holiday brews paired with (free!) curated bites by Executive Chef Amanda Baumgarten. There is also a charity-driven toy drive that the whole family can enjoy with an appearance by Santa on Dec 16, as well as the addition of a few festive sweet treats including a twist on the classic Holiday Yule Log and Hot Apple Cider offered throughout the month of December.
As one of the city’s top locales pioneering beer and food pairings, Waypoint Public is ringing in the holiday spirit in San Diego-fashion with their 12 Beers of Christmas series. Beginning on December 12, Waypoint will debut a special plate and pint pairing featuring one the season’s best holiday brews accompanied by a complimentary bite to match. One pairing will be featured each day from Friday, December 12 through Tuesday, December 23. Examples of holiday pairings to be seen include Santa’s Little Helper, a Bourbon barrel-aged Russian Imperial Stout from Port Brewing Company, paired with duck and gouda stuffed pretzels and 7 Swans-A-Swimming, a Belgian-style Quadrupel Ale from The Bruery, paired with a savory date and bleu cheese tart.
From the North Pole to North Park, who says Santa doesn’t like his West Coast suds? In keeping with Waypoint’s family-friendly atmosphere, this year the Waypoint team hopes to give deserving children a holiday they’ll never forget with a toy drive benefiting select families of North Park’s local Garfield Elementary School in partnership with the YMCA. On Tuesday, December 16, families are encouraged to bring a gift donation to Waypoint Public in order to enjoy festive activities, cookies and milk, crafts for kids, and photo professional ops with the main man of Christmas himself, Santa Claus, between 4 and 6pm.
Waypoint has also added two new holiday-inspired sweet treats to their menu. Don't miss in-house Pastry Chef Jennifer Reinhart’s decadently dark Holiday Yule Log, made from black cocoa devil's food cake, rolled with eggnog cream & cranberry jam and decorated with whimsical meringue mushrooms, offered throughout December. For those looking for a non-boozy bevy to cozy up to, Waypoint’s special-edition Hot Apple Cider infused with spiced star anise, orange zest, cinnamon and Chile de árbol should bring the holiday heat you’re looking for.
