In celebration of Expo Milano 2015, which was recently featured as the number one travel destination of 2015 in the New York Times, Monello will be hosting a celebration of Milanese cuisine and culture at its award-winning Little Italy restaurant from March 1 to June 30. Monello will also be giving away a trip for two to Milan valued at over $10,000! Guests are invited to dine from their special prix fixe reflective of the Expo Milano 2015 and are automatically entered to win.
Expo Milano 2015 is a universal exposition that will take place in Milan, Italy from May 1 to October 31, 2015. The exhibition is expected to welcome over 20 million visitors from around the world as it celebrates the theme, “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” which embraces technology, innovation, culture and creativity as they relate to food, nutrition and the plant’s precious resources.
“Guido and I recently spent three weeks in Milan to get inspiration for the dishes we will be creating for our Expo Milano menus and to do research on the best restaurants in Milan that are included on the itinerary,” said Valentina. “Our hopes in celebrating Expo Milano 2015 at Monello is not just to send two lucky people on the trip of a lifetime, but to give our guests a glimpse into our Italian culture.
Guests dining at Monello between March 1 and June 30 can expect to see a new “Expo Prixe Fixe” menu, priced at $50 excluding tax and gratuity, each week featuring authentic Italian dishes that are popular in Milan such as Mondeghili di Verza - cabbage wraps stuffed with veal meatballs, or Tortino di Formaggio con Porcini - raspadura cheese flan with sautéed porcini mushroom.
Each time a guest orders the special “Expo Prixe Fixe” menu they will be entered to win the all-inclusive trip for two including roundtrip airfare on British Airways, a seven night stay at Park Hyatt Milan, a two day pass to Expo Milano, four meals at restaurants hand selected by Monello’s owners, a visit to the landmark Duomo, an exclusive visit to Leonardo DaVinci’s Last Supper mural, a gift card to Eataly, a tour of the Bella Lodi cheese factory and an Aperitivo experience at one of Valentina and Guido’s favorite spots in Milan.
The lucky winner will be chosen at an Aperitivo event hosted by Monello on July 6. All guests who purchased the “Expo Prixe Fixe” menu and entered the contest will be invited to the event where San Diego City Councilman Todd Gloria will pick the winning ticket and announce the winner.
