April 6, 2015

The San Diego International Wine Show returns to Del Mar for the fourth year, bringing a blend of culture, unique wines and wine education, and benefiting the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy. This premier, 2-day wine-tasting event takes place on the weekend of April 25-26, from 1-6pm each day, at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in the intimate Paddock environment, and promises to be a memorable experience for everyone who attends. The event features California’s best wine from Napa Valley, Sonoma and Paso Robles, and introduces great wines from Italy, France, Spain, South America and Baja California, Mexico and beyond. Because here at SanDiegoVille, we always try to offer much more than just information, we are also raffling off a pair of passes to attend on 4/25 and giving our readers a chance to save $5 per ticket by using promo code SDVILLE online at Brown Paper Tickets.

Italian-born Donato Santarsieri is the Executive Director of the San Diego International Wine Show. He comes from a long history of family winemakers in Europe and hopes to introduce San Diego wine consumers to the international flavors of wine from around the globe.

“The public here is generally quite California-centric about their taste in wine, but when they travel abroad and experience these fantastic wines they’re discovering that they really like them,” says Santarsieri.

Santarsieri chose to benefit the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy because he loves living in San Diego and appreciates the wonderful outdoors.

“The Conservancy is working to sustain our environment; this is my way of showing support for the work they do,” he said.

At the San Diego International Wine Show, guests are invited to explore private wineries, engage with wine experts and lovers, experience special tastings and fine dining by local chefs, live entertainment, and works of art by local artists. People 21 and over can be purchase tickets online for $55 or $65 at the door on the day of the event. Promo code SDVILLE at Brown Paper Tickets (promo only works by following link to this purchase page) saves $5 per pass.

The San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is dedicated to preserving, protecting and restoring natural and cultural resources within the 55-mile long San Dieguito River Park and completing the 70-mile Coast to Crest Trail.

“I saw this as a great opportunity to bring in international wines, winemakers, and top sommeliers to let consumers taste and learn more about what makes these wines so special,” says Santarsieri.
