June 5, 2015

San Diegan’s love beer. In fact, the county of San Diego boasts over 70 different breweries! With all of these options, newbies to the beer scene might get a little overwhelmed. Thankfully, barleymash is here! This lively downtown restaurant hosts beer dinners pairing their delicious, award winning food with beer from local craft breweries. Guests can experience a taste of this unique scene on Thursday, June 18 at barleymash’s upcoming Beer Dinner. Executive Chef Kevin Templeton will be carefully preparing a six course dinner that utilizes fresh, farm-to-table ingredients, and epitomizes barleymash’s progressive bar-fare style that will perfectly pair with beer from Green Flash Brewing Company.

From French countryside-inspired hors d’oeuvres and an ice bar with fresh ceviche to begin the night to house-made pork and turkey sausages served with a tangerine-peach marmalade, a fresh pretzel and honey-mosaic mustard, to baby greens topped with tangerines, heirloom beets, avocado, toasted pine nuts, burrata cheese and a blood orange vinaigrette Chef Kevin has kept every beer drinkers’ palate in mind.

As the night progresses, move on to a pan seared cobia served with roasted pee wee potatoes, grilled fennel, shelled mussels and clams in a garlic butter-beer broth and a crisp pork belly confit served with agave corn bread, roasted baby carrots, caramelized shallots and a whole grain mustard pan gravy. End the night on a sweet note with a dessert sampler that includes a blackberry tart, a Humboldt fog stuffed date with a bacon and balsamic reduction, and a double chocolate-cherry pot de crème.

Green Flash’s Beach House Ale, Citra Session, Soul Style IPA, Trippel, Road Warrior Imperial Rye IPA, and the Flanders Drive are paired with each course of the dinner, giving guests a taste of some of the finest beers this San Diego brewery has to offer.

Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased online. Located in the heart of the vibrant and historic Gaslamp district, barleymash can be found at the corner of 5th and Market.
