From The Mind Behind Fig Tree Café - Breakfast Republic Now Open In North Park

June 29, 2015

Breakfast Republic is raising feathers and giving San Diegans something to crow about with its highly anticipated opening that took place this past weekend. In search of a fun and unpretentious place to enjoy a clucking good breakfast? Look no further! This innovative breakfast destination offers a top spot for locals and visitors to flock to every morning. Breakfast Republic took over the space that was previously occupied by Western Steakburger, and is using an avant-garde approach to décor that is innovative and inviting!

S'More French Toast!
The menu at Breakfast Republic represents a collection of travel and nostalgia, with inspired dishes served up with a twist that is uniquely their own. Take their Vietnamese Chicken Wing Breakfast Bowl, for example. And every early bird will love the Southern Shrimp Grits and Mexican Churro Pancakes. Of course there are the basics too, like scrambles and omelets. Not to mention, all of the eggs the eatery cracks come from happy chickens who reside at a family farm in Ramona. Raising the “bar” is Breakfast Republic's rotating list of 20 beers on tap, which are available as samplers to complement many of the unique dishes served.

Behind the scenes at Breakfast Republic is owner and restauranteur Johan Engman, who is proud to admit - “I want to hone in on one thing and do it right –and I’m in love with breakfast.” This is not Engman’s first rodeo. Breakfast Republic will join his other successful San Diego breakfast-centric restaurants, including three Fig Tree Cafés and Café Cantata in Del Mar, all part of his Rise & Shine Restaurant Group.

You’ll surely find that Breakfast Republic is everything it’s cracked up to be! The only thing you have to do is roll out of bed and show up hungry.
