Two New Pizzerias Open In Pacific Beach | Welcome Lu Pizzetta And Mr. Moto Pizza House To The Neighborhood

June 24, 2015

In our opinion, there could never be too much pizza in the world! In just one week, two new pizzerias debuted in the Pacific Beach neighborhood of San Diego. Lu Pizzetta is an Italian-owned hub on Cass Street near bustling Garnet Avenue that has a small menu specializing in pizzettas - 7" mini-pizzas - as well as a couple calzones. Mr. Moto Pizza House is a family run operation that took over the location previously occupied by Amore Pizza and offers New York-style whole pizza pies and slices, as well as an array of salads, pastas, calzones, strombolis and sandwiches.

Luca Giorgiantonio, the owner of Lu Pizzetta, grew up in the coastal town of Pescara, situated about 140 miles east of Rome, where pizzettas were an institution. "During school break, after a soccer game, or at the beach, a Pizzetta was the primary, quick snack to satisfy impending hunger," explained Luca. Since moving to Pacific Beach ten years ago, Luca had a dream to recreate that feeling of home and share it with his new neighbors. His dream has now become reality.

Mr. Moto is owned and operated by Gibran "Mr. Moto" Fernandez and family. The New York style-pizza house is a blend of old and new world styles. The pizzeria features a brick front and plenty of fresh baked pies on display for dine in or take out by the slice. Moving forward, Mr. Moto will offer a unique “pizza of the month,” which is an always changing pie.

Lu Pizzetta is located at 4508 Cass Street and is open Sunday and Monday from noon to 10pm, Tuesday through Thursday from noon to midnight, and Friday and Saturday from noon to 2:30am. The restaurant is cash only.

Mr. Moto Pizza House is located at 4653 Mission Boulevard and is open Sunday through Wednesday from 11am to 10pm and Thursday through Saturday from 11am to 2:30am.
