Green Flash Brewing Co. Continues Rare Beer Festival For Breast Cancer Awareness | Win Tickets To The 5th Annual Treasure Chest Fest On Saturday, August 29

August 4, 2015

On Saturday, August 29, from noon to 5pm, Green Flash Brewing Co. is hosting Treasure Chest Fest 2015 - the brewery’s largest and most anticipated rare beer event of the year. For the 5th year in a row, Treasure Chest Fest serves as a fundraiser for local breast cancer charity Susan G. Komen San Diego and features the national bottle debut of Treasure Chest beer - which is branded with a Hawaiian-inspired pinup gal theme. The ‘fest is now a San Diego tradition, an exceptional and established celebration of craft beer and local foods to create an afternoon of unforgettable festival experience to raise money for local charity. We are raffling off two tickets to this year's Treasure Chest Fest, so read on for all the details and be sure to enter!

Each year, the ‘fest' takes over the inside of the Green Flash Mira Mesa brewery Tasting Room and Beer Garden, allowing attendees a behind-the-scenes chance to sample from an exceptional lineup of Green Flash's rare, specialty, cask and barrel aged beers while they wander through the entire expanse of the brewery. Green Flash has hand-selected some of their favorite local restaurants to develop (and donate) thoughtful food pairings to go with each beer. The event also marks the exciting national 22oz bottle and draft debut of Treasure Chest 2015 beer - an IPA with grapefruit and prickly pear juice with hibiscus flowers.

The much-anticipated annual craft beer festival will feature an outstanding lineup of rare limited and specialty Green Flash offerings including creative cask ales as well as our top shelf reserve for the draft lineup! There will also be perfect food pairings from local restaurants, including The Pub at Alpine Beer Company, Brothers Provisions, Carnitas' Snack Shack, Nomad Donuts, Sublime Ale House, The Bellows, The Local, Urge American Gastro Pub, Viva Pops, Green Flash Gastro Truck and more

This year’s ‘fest will introduce a tropical Hawaiian Luau theme, so be sure to grab your best Tiki attire - Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts and retro-inspired Hawaiian kitsch attire is encouraged. There will also be pin up gals roaming the brewery, outfitted, styled and sourced by local designer, Fables by Barrie to create the perfect photo opportunities!

Green Flash has also enlisted local craft purveyors to join the event and each will host an education 30 minute demo throughout the day, to touch on the art of their culinary specialties. Beer pairings will be included – and demos are slated as follows - Ironside Oyster Bar demonstrating oyster shucking; True Gentleman’s Jerky doing a homemade jerky demonstration; and Venissimo Cheese discussing the art of cheese making. These demos will take place throughout the day of the event, with space for 50 guests per session on a first-come basis.

Green Flash is hand-selecting some of the best in local San Diego craft vendors to join the party this year as well. Fest goers can shop at the Treasures Chest marketplace while they enjoy fest food and drink. There will also be a chance to meet with and discuss the beers with the Green Flash brewers!

Green Flash Brewing Co. is located at 6550 Mira Mesa Blvd (at Flanders Drive). The event will take over the entire brewery, so the facility will be open solely to ticket holders 21-and-over on August 29. Tickets are available online in advance or at the door (while available) with many options so everyone can enjoy the fest! General admission passes are $40 in advance and $50 on the day of the festival, and include access to festival, 10 beer and 10 food pairing tasters and a commemorative tasting glass.
