Top San Diego Chefs Top Pies At URBN In Celebration Of National Pizza Month

In celebration of October being National Pizza Month, URBN Coal Fired Pizza in North Park is teaming up with top chefs from around San Diego to top URBN’s epic-sized pies with their own creative combinations, all to raise funds for culinary scholarships. Kitchen heavyweights Matt Gordon (Urban Solace), Hanis Cavin (Carnitas Snack Shack), Tim Kolanko (Stake Chophouse + Bar), Amy Dibiase (Tidal) and Carmine Lopez (Great Maple) will join URBN for the entire month of October to create a specialty pie to be served for one week only.
Each week during the month of October, URBN will feature a different chef’s speciality pie. Available exclusively at URBN North Park, patrons will be able to experience some unique and scrumptious creations, from Chef Hanis’ pork-centric pizza to Chef Carmine Lopez Asian-fusion pie. Dedicated to helping a worthy and culinary cause, 100% of the proceeds from these collaboration pizzas will benefit Chef Celebration, a foundation dedicated to raising funds for culinary scholarships for aspiring local chefs. URBN will be doubling the trouble the last week of October, featuring two top-notch pies in an attempt to raise even more funds for Chef Celebration, and send off National Pizza Month with a charitable bang.

UBRN's National Pizza Month Roster is as follows: Stake Chophouse & Bar Executive Chef Tim Kolanko's fig, maytag blue cheese, caramelized onion and arugula pizza from October 1-7; Carnitas' Snack Shack Chef/Owner Hanis Cavin's carnitas sausage, smoked tomatoe sauce, chipotle onions with an avocado drizzle pizza from October 8-14; Great Maple Executive Chef Carmine Lopez's katsu sauce, kewpie mayo, shaved cabbage, pickled beech mushrooms and green onions pizza from October 15-21; Urban Solace's Chef/Owner Matt Gordon's roasted apples, gorgonzola, pancetta, roasted garlic cloves, arugula, fontina and mozzarella cheese pizza from October 22-31; and Tidal Executive Chef Amy Dibiase's papini pistou, onion soubise, fontina and duck confit pizza from October 22-31.
