Documentary On Baja California Cuisine Set To Debut At San Diego Latino Film Festival Along With Latin Beer & Food Festival

February 14, 2016

Get ready to savor the culinary delights of Baja California without hopping the border when documentary Baja Taste debuts at this year's 23rd annual San Diego Latino Film Festival, set to take place March 10-20 at AMC Fashion Valley 18. The documentary will premier on March 19 alongside the ticketed Sabor Latino Beer and Food Festival, which will offer attendees a chance to sample paired craft beer and food from both sides of the border.

Baja Taste, directed by Roberto Nájera, documents the gastronomic sensation of Baja Californian cuisine by following four seasoned chefs as they explore their inspiration for creating a soulful new style of Mexican dishes. The film stars chefs Miguel Ángel Guerrero (El Taller, La Querencia, and Almazara), Oso Campos (Taco Kokopelli), Diego Hernandez (Corazon De Tierra) and Javier Plascencia (Bracero, Romesco, Mision 19, Erizo and more) and intends to open viewers' eyes and stomachs to a whole new world of Mexican cuisine.

These talented chefs are the utmost experts behind what has been trademarked as Baja-Med cuisine - an innovative blend of not only Mexican, but also Mediterranean and Italian influences and flavors. Each with their individual and unique journeys leading to their successes, they are revolutionizing the culinary style of Baja, and in turn evolving our appetites and expanding our palettes. This film attempts to pinpoint the true identity of Baja Med - exploring the influences of the 4 chefs in cultivating the new style of cooking from Tijuana to Ensenada and Valle de Guadalupe.

Adding to the showcase of Latin cuisine, on Saturday, March 19, Sabor Latino Beer and Food Festival will take over Fashion Valley Mall for a unique pairing of the best Latin food in San Diego with the finest brewery and wineries from both San Diego and Baja California Mexico. This event will create an environment and experience that will feature live entertainment and amazing performances from top musicians in San Diego.

Sabor Latino Beer and Food Festival will featurelocal breweries from both sides of the border. Tickets are available online and include unlimited tastes of Cerveseria Tijuana, Aztec Brewery, Psycho Brewery, Border X and more.
