New Del Sur Mexican In San Diego's South Park To Host Grand Opening Celebration On Cinco De Mayo

Del Sur Mexican Cantina - South Park’s newest edition that is now in the space previously occupied by Brabant Bar & Cafe - will host its grand opening party with cocktail and food specials this Cinco de Mayo - Thursday, May 5. The Mexican restaurant is ready to welcom patrons looking for south of the border soul food and innovative libations.

The 2,100-square-foot cantina opened its doors March 1 but held off on its grand opening event until all the final design touches were in place. For it's party, Del Sur will offer a variety of specials including $3 beers, house Margaritas and Sangria, $15 pitchers of Sangria or Margaritas, $5 specialty cocktails, $5 for two tacos, and $5 appetizers all night.

Run by business partners and local residents Lauren Passero Brookes and Kate Grimes (who also own  The Haven Pizzeria and Kensington Cafe), the two saw an opportunity to bring a new dining experience to the South Park community. Chef Sergio Garcia runs the kitchen while Elizabeth Murciano leads cocktail creation.

“We’re thrilled to open a new dining experience in South Park, a place I have called home for years,” said Brookes. “Del Sur offers locals and visitors a place to come in and enjoy a delicious meal in a relaxed environment. We just kicked off our new happy hour and nightly specials, and we’re ecstatic about others coming in to to try and enjoy our menu!”

Del Sur's new happy hour specials include Margarita Monday ($2 off all Margaritas), Taco Tuesday, ($3 a la carte basic tacos, three specialty tacos for $10 or $3.50 each), Hump Day Wednesday (happy hour all night) Thirsty Thursday (burrito and a beer for $10) and $6 one-item combos during lunch hours on Friday through Sunday.
