The burgeoning restaurant group recently opened Fireside By The Patio. They are working on opening Bao Beach in Mission Beach. Now The Patio Group has taken over the loft-like space previously occupied by Table No. 10 restaurant at 369 10th Avenue in San Diego's East Village for a yet-to-be named concept - The Patio in East Village, perhaps? The group has also purchased Surf Rider Pizza Cafe in Ocean Beach.
The Patio Group's owner Gina Champion-Cain purchased the former Table No. 10, 1920s-era building last month through her American National Investments corporation for $2.35 million and she plans to build a new restaurant at the approximately 4,000-square-foot property. Like Fireside and the coming Bao Beach, the restaurant, menu and kitchen will be spearheaded by The Patio Group's newly onboard consulting chef Antonio Friscia and his Legal Restaurant team. Chef Amiko Gubbins will likely lead the kitchen at the East Village eatery.
The Patio Group also recently purchased Surf Rider Pizza Cafe, located at 2163 Abbott Street in Ocean Beach, from Hilary Rossi, who they subsequently appointed to Director of Food and Beverage at The Patio Restaurant Group. The Patio Group intends to leave Surf Rider completely as is, and move forward in expanding the concept to locations up the coast, as Hilary intended. Surf Rider Pizza Cafe was founded in August 2010 and recently underwent a complete renovation, including the addition of an updated tap system.
Aside from being a force behind a number of highly touted restaurants, Gina Champion Cain is also a real estate investor, the owner of a vacation home business (Luv Surf Vacation Homes) and the founder of a clothing line (Luv Surf Apparel).
