May 27, 2016

Liberty Station is welcoming summer with an inaugural block party celebration to showcase all the historic naval-base-turned-neighborhood  has to offer. Don't miss the Liberty Station Summer Block Party on Saturday, June 11, from 6-9pm. Friends and neighbors are invited this walkabout-style event to sample the newly opened eateries, dance along to live entertainment, partake in some family-friendly activities, stretch at a free outdoor yoga class, and discover all that San Diego’s latest neighborhood destination has to offer.

Taste your way through Liberty Station with samplings from some of San Diego’s top eateries. Complimentary bites include buttermilk fried chicken oysters from Mess Hall, refreshing summer cocktail samples at Soda & Swine, pizza slices from Officine Buona Forchetta, butternut squash bisque shooters from Solare Ristorante, tangy chicken wings from Dirty Birds, and popcorn sampler packs from The LOT.

Explore Liberty Station’s thriving arts district, where one-of-a-kind local galleries and artisans are welcoming newcomers and friends alike with specialty goods, DIY projects and unique artistic exhibitions. At the newly opened Moniker General, the first 50 customers will receive a free tote bag along with coffee and beer samples. Guests stopping into San Diego Comic Art Gallery will have the opportunity to meet Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle co-creator Kevin Eastman, who will be signing autographs alongside their latest exhibition.

Fitness groupies can grab a mat and start the evening with Yoga Six during a complimentary all-levels yoga class, beginning at 6pm. Afterwards, it’s all-ages fun on the North Promenade with plenty of activities to keep the whole family entertained well after the sun sets. Wander the historic barracks with the kiddos, where Pachis Art Studio, Women’s Museum of California and Kid Ventures are setting up craft stations and play areas especially for the little ones, while parents can have their own fun with a little vino and art at Pinot’s Palette. Craft enthusiasts can unleash their inner Picasso at Bravo School of Art with a community mosaic project, and then head over to Anneville Studio, where personalized copper pendants are only $5.
