MasterChef Season 6 finalist Nick Nappi is ready to invite San Diego to experience "drinks & links" at Little Italy's newest gastropub. Bar One is set to debut on Tuesday, July 12, just in time for the many summer festivities coming to America's Finest City.
Nappi, who recently ran the kitchen of downtown's Werewolf after making the top 4 on FOX Network's primetime amateur cooking competition Masterchef, teamed up with local developer Jim Barone for the opening of Bar One (get it, Barone - Bar One) at the base floor of Barone's building at 1532 India Street in Little Italy in the space previously occupied by Salon 1532.
"Our creation is finally coming alive!", wrote Nappi. "It's been a hell of a journey getting here and now we can't wait to share our food and booze with all of you!"
Bar One's food menu (see below) will be built around housemade sausages, including a vegetarian cannellini bean sausage, a pork sausage, a breaded and fried chicken park sausage, and other. There is an Italian influence on main course offerings, as both Barone and Nappi are of Italian heritage. Dishes like Grandma's Meatballs and Nicky's Gnocchi come from family recipes passed down to Executive Chef Nappi over the years.
Bar One will also offer 12 taps of craft beer, a curated wine list and specialty cocktails. Bar One sits along a quieter stretch of India Street and offers patrons a dark wood and exposed brick designed interior with a lengthy bar, 6 televisions dotting the walls, high-top table seating, and a roll up garage door opening up onto an outdoor patio.
