Hyatt Regency La Jolla will perform a comprehensive renovation and complete reimagination of its main onsite restaurant, previously Michael's, to be renamed and reopened as DRIFT eat + drink this September. The opening of DRIFT eat + drink follows an extensive $12 million rooms renovation.
"The opening of DRIFT eat + drink will be a momentous occasion for our guests and the surrounding community," said Dania Duke, general manager of Hyatt Regency La Jolla. "Its completion will present an introduction to Hyatt Regency La Jolla’s transformation following a recent rooms renovation that distinctly embraces the jewel city of La Jolla."
The restaurant and bar that was formerly Michael's will be transformed into a bright and open space to emulate a distinct coastal feel and a fresh and welcoming sensibility. Inspired by the natural beauty and surf culture of the Southern California coast, the aesthetic will exude a modern approach in interior design with light marble and stone countertops, light wooden accents along with lush and vibrant colored fabrics paired with calming, neutral tones of blues, greens and greys that convey the upscale but not uptight ambiance associated with the region. DRIFT eat + drink will offer a variety of dynamic indoor and outdoor seating arrangements with a communal feel while also accommodating intimate reservations, groups and events.
DRIFT eat + drink will offer a mix of comforting items, featuring dishes inspired by local and regional cuisines found throughout Southern California. DRIFT eat + drink’s day-to-night cuisine will highlight approachable Baja-inspired California cuisine. Catering to today’s trend of clean and healthy eating, the menu features absolutely no fried items and has a varied selection of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. Shareable plates from appetizers to entrees will be offered including farm-fresh organic salads and flatbreads. Guests will enjoy an elevated craft beer program featuring some of San Diego’s renowned micro brews and creative cocktails.
