October 17, 2016

Get in touch with your celestial side at Coronado Island Resort & Spa Marriott’s second monthly installment of its Lunar Feast dinner series, taking place on Sunday, October 30, from 6-9pm. San Diego Chef Sara Polczynski has partnered with Executive Chef Michael Poompan to prepare a delicious Oaxacan supper consisting of an appetizer sampler followed by four-courses with wine pairings by Baja Wine + Food, held al-fresco  on the property's pier during the new moon.

The October 30 meal highlights authentic flavors and ingredients from the Oaxaca area of Mexico in partnership with Baja Wine + Food, providing guests with a one-of-a-kind romantic experience under the stars on the resort’s private pier overlooking the San Diego skyline and San Diego Bay.

The meal will feature four courses of Oaxacan-inspired cuisine, including dishes like the tostada de pulpo asado with vanilla bean & pasilla Oaxacan glaze, Jamaica goat cheese and candied almonds; empanada de hongo with quesillo cheese, pepian sauce and sauteed greens, ensalada de la tierra with guava, tangerine, pomegranate, queso fresco, pepitas & grilled onion dressing; tamal de frijoles negro y hoja santa with tomatillo & arbol sauce; mole negro with braised chicken thighs; Mexican chocolate bread pudding, and much more (full menu below)! The feast will be paired with wines curated from Mexico's Adobe Guadalupe winery, expertly curated by Fernando Gaxiola of Baja Wine + Food. There will also be a cash bar with craft beer options from Mike Hess Brewing.

The Lunar Feast is priced at $80 per person. The Lunar Series continues at the Coronado Island Resort & Spa Marriott with a delicious Tuna Harbor Seafood Dinner on Sunday, November 13. Reservations can be made by calling the Coronado Island Resort & Spa Marriott or can be booked through
