Dog Haus Biergarten To Grand Open In Downtown San Diego On October 21

October 14, 2016

Dog Haus Biergarten will grand open on October 21 at 969 Ninth Avenue on the corner of 9th & Broadway in downtown San Diego, offering 4,000-plus square feet of dining space and a menu of gourmet hot dogs, sausages, burgers and one-of-a-kind creations, as well as a curated list of craft beers. In celebration of their debut, Dog Haus is offering a free Haus Dog to guests on opening day.

Dog Haus is a California-based concept, with the San Diego location being the first restaurant endeavor for franchisee owners Laura Zhang and Kelvin Cui. The emerging restaurant brand was originally founded by Partners Hagop Giragossian, André Vener and Quasim Riaz in 2010 to recapture the nostalgic childhood experience of eating a hot dog. Dog Haus currently has 20 stores open in five states with confirmed expansion of more than 150 franchise locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Texas and Utah. To commemorate its arrival in America's Finest City, the new Dog Haus Biergarten owners will be inviting locals to swing by for a free hot dog on Opening Day.

Opening Day specials invite the community in to be part of the fun and give back to causes that touch the heart of the Dog Haus team. Here’s how San Diegans can get in on the action on Friday, Oct. 21 from 11am to 10pm. A free Haus Dog will be given to everyone that donates $3 to the Monarch School, a non-profit K-12 comprehensive school designed to educate homeless youth, as well as for police, firefighters, EMTs, military in uniform, and Yelpers that check-in.

In addition to raising funds for the Monarch School on Friday, October 21, Dog Haus Biergarten will be donating 10% of their sales from Saturday, October 22 through Saturday, October 29 to San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation, which provides support to San Diego’s first responders to better protect the citizens and property of San Diego and the surrounding region from the ravages of fire, natural disasters, and unforeseen injuries and illness.

"We know San Diego is going to love Dog Haus," said co-owner Zhang. "We’ve invested in a solid footprint in San Diego’s vibrant downtown and will be bringing Dog Haus Biergarten, which will have 30 craft beers on tap, a craveable menu and a welcoming, signature style. Our vision is to serve as a gathering place for locals and visitors. We can’t wait to celebrate with San Diego!"

Dog Haus’ hot dog creations feature signature all beef skinless dogs served up on grilled Hawaiian rolls. Fan favorites include Sooo Cali with wild arugula, tomato, crispy onions, spicy basil aioli and avocado; the Downtown Dog, featuring a smoked bacon wrapped dog topped with caramelized onions, pickled peppers, mayo, mustard and ketchup; and Cowboy with white American cheese, smoked bacon, bbq sauce and crispy onions. The location’s 30 craft beer offerings will range from local favorites to national and international brews, and there will also be wine options.

Dog Haus' full menu also includes gourmet, sausages, burgers, corn dogs, sides, and shakes. Other Haus items include The Fonz, which partners a spicy Italian sausage with pastrami and melted mozzarella; while Das Brat features a bratwurst with caramelized onions, sauerkraut and whole grain mustard aioli. Haus Burgers run the gamut from the trademarked The Freiburger, with white American cheese, a fried egg, haus slaw, fries and mayo; to Holy Aioli, with white American cheese, caramelized onions, smoked bacon and garlic aioli.

After ordering at the counter, diners can grab a barstool at the communal tables with exposed I-beams or claim a seat at one of the reclaimed wood and steel tables with benches that boast playful phrases, such as “Nice Buns,” throughout the restaurant. The 4,030 square-foot restaurant offers a number of flat screen TVs, as well as a dog-friendly patio.

"As an entrepreneur, there’s not much better than bringing something new to a city," said co-owner Cui. "I can’t wait to see how the community embraces Dog Haus. We have dedicated more than two years to the planning and site selection for this milestone opening in southern California. We wanted to open with the right timing and location and we’re now officially ready to welcome San Diego to meet Dog Haus Biergarten!"

The new restaurant, located at 969 Ninth Ave, San Diego, CA 92101 will be open for lunch, happy hour and dinner starting on Friday, October 21. For more information, visit doghaus.com.
