San Diego Based Modern Times Beer Announces Gigantic Anaheim Project

October 28, 2016

San Diego's Modern Times Beer, which first launched its Point Loma-based brewery in 2012, took to social media today to announce plans for an enormous craft beer entertainment destination planned for the downtown Anaheim, a nearly 32,000 square foot project that will include an onsite restaurant, brewing facility, café, restaurant, guest food stalls, a pool with poolside bar and movie screen, a merchandise store and more. Modern Times Leisuretown is coming!

"We are stoked out of our frickin’ minds to announce the next major research facility in our ongoing investigation into the art of partying: Leisuretown," Modern Times stated in their social media announcement. "Prepare your mind, body, and soul for a garden of earthly delights that will span over 31,927 square feet in downtown Anaheim."

According to the company, Leisuretown will include a funky/sour brewing facility housed in an old hoop-style wooden warehouse, a showpiece Modern Times café & restaurant set in a two-story, historic craftsman home, multiple on-site stalls serving food from some of SoCal’s top restaurateurs, a giant swimming pool complete with poolside bar, movie screen, and floaty toys, and a Modern Times merchandise store & bottle pick-up location. All of this will be set within a large, landscaped outdoor space in Anaheim's Packing District, aimed to be an inviting destination for group gatherings and beer drinking.

In addition to the Anaheim location, Modern Times is still working on a Los Angeles brewery and restaurant - The Dankness Dojo - a 6,000 square foot facility currently in development at 830 S. Olive Street in downtown Los Angeles' booming South Park neighborhood. The LA location is slated to be the brewery's 10-barrel "R&D Facility," meaning that most of the experimental beers will be brewed there. The restaurant will serve vegan food and there will also be a coffee bar on site.
