Quartyard is a project from RAD Lab (which stands for "research architecture development laboratory"), and was always considered a temporary public park. The East Village project broke ground in fall 2014 and grand opened on March 7, 2015, constructed using a bunch of retrofitted shipping containers within a 28,500 square foot lot that the city plans to eventually sell to a high-rise housing developer. RAD Lab has signed a 3 year lease on the space, which was used over its tenure to host multiple festivals, event, live performances and private corporate outings.
The new Quartyard park is anticipated to reopen at 13th & Market in San Diego's East Village in late 2017 and will feature everything you love about Quartyard - including a dog park, beer garden, on-site eatery, coffee shop, and more! Tickets to the farewell party will be available online for $5 and will be $10 at the gate on the day of the event.
