Eureka! To Debut Second Area Location At San Diego State University Campus This Summer

June 21, 2017

This summer, Eureka! restaurants will open its second San Diego location as part of the newly built, $143 million South Campus Plaza project at San Diego State University, which also includes outposts of Trader Joe's and Broken Yolk Cafe. Taking over a 4,000-square-foot space on the north end of the mixed use residential and retail complex, this American gastropub chain will offer indoor and outdoor dining, featuring a menu of scratch-made comfort food and a dedication to local craft beers, small-batch whiskeys and classic cocktails.

"We build our restaurants always keeping in mind our values - Energy, Discovery, and Community." explained Eurkeka! CEO Justin Nedelman. "We strive to create an energetic environment, where guests can discover their new favorite style of burger or small-batch whiskey they have never heard of, while supporting the local community through our beverage program featuring primarily the best San Diego breweries. Our goal is to be the ultimate dining destination for all, from the beer geeks, to the families in the area, to the college students right there on campus."

Whether guests are looking to enjoy a delicious dinner before a show at Viejas or Cal Coast, or want to grab a craft beer during "hoppy hour" while playing corn hole on the patio, Eureka! will certainly add to the charm of the campus community. The new location will offer seating for 220 guests with an industrial and contemporary design, featuring a expansive interior and an even more spacious exterior nearing 7,000 square feet total. The patio will offer frequent live music on a dedicated stage,  as well as corn hole and an indoor/outdoor bar to feature the 40 various American craft beers and the over 50 small-batch unique whiskey options.

Eureka's food menu specializes in American classics with a modern twist with its diverse selection of appetizers. Menu highlights include the Mac N’ Cheese Balls made with a scratch made beer cheese sauce and Fresno chiles; watermelon salad with arugula, kale, housemade quinoa, watermelon, feta, walnuts, lemon vinaigrette, and balsamic glaze; the Cowboy Burger topped with shoestring onions, bacon, cheddar cheese, finished with beer barbeque sauce; the Bone Marrow Burger with bone marrow porcini butter, charbroiled onion, horseradish mustard aioli, roasted tomato, and grilled onion; and the Butcher’s Flat Iron Dip with caramelized onions, pickled Fresno chiles, horseradish mustard aioli, Havarti, served alongside au jus. The all-American restaurant will also offer weekend brunch.

The Eureka! chain runs another location within Westfield University Towne Center in La Jolla and more than a dozen other locations throughout California, plus two in Texas and another in Washington state. Eureka! SDSU is located at 5140 College Avenue and is expected to open on August 21 just in time for the new school year.
