SuperNatural Sandwiches chef/partner Craig Jimenez is in the process of opening a fast-casual bento box concept - Nom Nom Bento - in the San Diego beachside neighborhood Pacific Beach, set to swing open this summer.
Craig Jimenez is a busy man. In addition to overseeing culinary operations at Miramar's SuperNatural Sea To Sandwich, including scouting new locations all over town for the second location of the popular seafood sandwich restaurant, the young and talented San Diego-native chef is in the process of opening his own counter-service concept called Nom Nom Bento in the 1,100-square-foot space adjacent to Dirty Birds at 4658 Mission Boulevard in Pacific Beach that last housed Surf Indian.
Nom Nom Bento will be an Asian fusion restaurant with menu items like rotisserie Singapore-style chicken, Korean bulgogi steak, Japanese pork chashu, and garlic lemongrass shrimp, easily accessible for takeaway to be enjoyed at the nearby beach in bento box fashion. Nom Nom Bento is anticipated to open this July. Prior to joining the team at Supernatural Sandwiches, Chef Jimenez was the Executive Chef at the now-defunt Gang Kitchen and Roseville Cozinha before that.
