July 18, 2017

Over 3,000 attendees will enjoy San Diego's popular Phil’s BBQ and watch the Padres go to bat at the ninth annual Phil’s Big BBQ at the Ballpark on Sunday, July 30, benefitting Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County. We are raffling off a bunch of tickets to this amazing annual event, including 4 VIP Batting Experiences that include viewing of batting practice, tickets to the game and a special welcome message during the San Diego Padres versus Pittsburgh Padres game.

Phil’s Big BBQ at the Ballpark is one of Southern California’s largest tailgate parties, with something fun for everyone to enjoy. The event kicks off at 11am with mouthwatering Phil’s BBQ and live entertainment, featuring the Morgan Leigh Band, as they bring their high-energy country to the tailgate.

After filling up on barbeque, children can head to the Kids Zone to get their faces painted, play with giant bubbles - courtesy of Elam’s Amazing Bubbles - and race through the XTREME FUN obstacle course. Those 21 and over can head to the beer and spirit garden, featuring, Karl Strauss, Ballast Point, Thorn Brewing, Duck Foot Brewing, Deep Eddy Vodka and Sileni Estates wine, to enjoy $5 beer and drinks for a good cause, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County.

"To me, it’s essential to give back and say thanks to the loyal customers and members of the San Diego community who have contributed to our success," said Phil Pace, owner of Phil’s BBQ. “I strongly believe in the support of local families, and especially military families who sacrifice so much for the greater good of our country.”

Operation Bigs was launched in 2004 to meet the increasing demand for Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County from military families stationed at Camp Pendleton. Since its inception, Operation Bigs has served more than 2,253 Navy and Marine Corps children. The program operates at eight schools in four communities throughout San Diego County including Camp Pendleton, Point Loma, Coronado and Murphy Canyon. In 2015, Operation Bigs also expanded their services to military children through BBBS’ traditional Community-Based program. Operation Bigs enrolls military dependents between the ages of 7- 17 at no cost to families.
