Brigantine Seafood & Oyster Bar Now Open In San Diego's South County

Now open in the heart of San Diego's Imperial Beach neighborhood is Brigantine Seafood & Oyster Bar, the 8th area location for the longtime local chain of seafood restaurants.

Brigantine Restaurant got its start in San Diego in 1969 when Mike Morton Sr. and family opened the first location of the surf & turf centric restaurant on Shelter Island (in the space where Miguel's is now). Brigantine Inc. now employs more than 1,200 San Diegans and operates 14 restaurants in San Diego County, including eight Brigantine Seafood and Oyster Bar locations and six branches of Miguel’s Cocina.

Brigantine Inc. is also in the process of a $13 million redevelopment of the former Anthony's Fish Grotto location at 1360 North Harbor Drive in downtown San Diego, which will be called "Portside Pier" and include dock-and-dine additions so that boats can pull up and park at the revitalized venue. The new downtown waterfront pier will include four different concepts on two levels, including Brigantine on the Bay, Miguel's Cocina, Ketch Grill & Taps, and Portside Gelato & Coffee. The burgeoning restaurant group is also in the process of turning the historic Red Sails Inn restaurant location into an outpost of Ketch Grill & Taps and will be constructing a craft brewery, dubbed Ketch Brewing, at the corporate headquarters in Kearny Mesa.

The newly opened Brigantine Seafood & Oyster Bar in Imperial Beach is located at 919 Seacoast Drive, directly across from the IB Portwood Pier Plaza, and offers a more modern, industrial feel than the other outposts with a design by Costa Mesa-based Hatch Design Group. Like other locations, the restaurant will serve a menu of surf & turf classics, including their famed fish tacos, sandwiches, and a variety of appetizers and entrees, as well as an oyster raw bar. 

Brigantine is now open on Monday through Thursday from 11am-9:30pm, Friday from 11am-10pm, and Saturday & Sunday from 10am-9:30pm, with happy hour from 3pm to close on Monday, 3-6pm on Tuesday through Sunday, and brunch on Saturday & Sunday starting at 10am. For more information, visit
